For me, this second volume really fell short of the first.

Perhaps I had too high expectations given how much I loved the first volume.

Here, the perfection of the two protagonists was too striking.

The author’s obsession with Valentina wearing red dresses, blouses, etc. became omnipresent, and at times it was unnecessary, uninteresting or inappropriate.

Some elements of the plot did not hold up and were implausible in my opinion.

There were many longueurs and repetitions, and I was frustrated by the feeling of going round in circles, of being stuck in a loop with the same things.

And the TAB! (Third act breakup)… no, I was disappointed, it was unnecessary and unjustified drama.

The plot lacked depth for me, I didn’t get enough out of it. There weren’t enough obstacles or twists and turns.

I am disappointed and have mixed feelings.

The writing is still enjoyable and dynamic, it reads very well, but the characters, the feelings, the situations, I didn’t get or feel what I was hoping for.

Luca is very, very possessive (like his brother Ares), and I love that (what can I say, we all have our guilty pleasures), he’s also protective, and he would give up everything for the one he loves.

I was less enthusiastic about Valentina’s character. Despite the trials she has been through and is still going through, I couldn’t bring myself to care about her.

Other than that, there’s smut, like a looooooot of smut. It’s a party in your knickers and boxers đŸ€Ł

However, I’m not giving up on reading the other volumes because I can’t resist the appeal of marriages of convenience 😏
