Avant toute chose, je pose le problème : la traduction n’est vraiment pas terrible. J’avais entendu dire que c’était vraiment la faiblesse chez Juno, c’est confirmé. On sent nettement la traduction littérale, au mot à mot à certains moments, et c’est dérageant parce que certaines expressions américaines ou anglophones ne peuvent tout simplement pas être traduites littéralement, mais en utilisant un équivalent. Donc le travail éditorial est décevant. 

J’ai lu peu de romances bikers, mais j’en ai tout de même quelques unes à mon actif et je n’ai pas apprécié autant que je le pensais cette histoire. 

J’ai apprécié le début de l’histoire, le personnage de Brinley m’a beaucoup plu, excepté qu’au fil de l’histoire Brinley n’était plus du tout ce que nous avait promis l’autrice, n’était plus du tout fidèle au portrait ou à l’image que nous pouvions nous faire d’elle en commençant ce roman. J’ai été plutôt déçue par l’attitude de Brinley dès qu’elle est en présence de Wolfe, bon c’était peut-être et même sûrement ce que souhaitait l’autrice, et je ne le remets pas en cause, mais ça ne m’a pas convenu. 

Wolfe, quant à lui, a une ligne de conduite très régulière et logique, égal à lui-même du début à la fin. L’évolution est cependant notable le concernant, donc des deux il est le plus réussi (avis très personnel).

Le point faible de l’histoire c’est que le s3x3 prend le pas sur l’histoire,  je l’ai vécu sur du 70/30 c’est vous dire l’omniprésence de la chose. Et bon, franchement, le smut ne me dérange absolument pas du moment où c’est bien écrit, justifié, mais là c’était b**ser pour b**ser, sans compter que Wolfe manque un peu d’imagination, c’est toujours les mêmes gestes, les mêmes mots, à part deux ou trois variantes géographiques, rien de transcendant. Si vous avez un peu chaud sur les 3 premières scènes spicy, ça retombe facilement après jusqu’à vous laisser indifférent (du moins, ça m’a fait cet effet). 

J’ai trouvé le rythme de l’histoire très irrégulier, des rebondissements très convenus. 

Un peu déçue de cette lecture qui ne sera pas mémorable. 

Attention : Lisez vraiment attentivement les TW, livre réservé à un public adulte et averti.

First and foremost, let me address the issue: the translation is really not great. I’d heard that this was Juno’s weak point, and it’s been confirmed. You can clearly tell it’s a literal translation, word-for-word at times, and it’s jarring because certain American or English expressions simply can’t be translated literally; they need to be rendered with an equivalent. So the editorial work is disappointing. 

I haven’t read many biker romances, but I’ve read a few, and I didn’t enjoy this story as much as I thought I would. 

I enjoyed the beginning of the story, and I really liked Brinley’s character—except that as the story progressed, Brinley was no longer at all what the author had promised us; she was no longer true to the portrait or image we had formed of her when we started the novel. I was rather disappointed by Brinley’s attitude whenever she was around Wolfe—though perhaps, or even certainly, that was what the author intended, and I’m not questioning that, but it didn’t sit well with me. 

Wolfe, on the other hand, follows a very consistent and logical course of action, remaining true to himself from start to finish. However, his character development is notable, so of the two, he’s the more successful character (in my very personal opinion).

The story’s weak point is that s3x takes precedence over the plot—I’d say it’s about a 70/30 split, which gives you an idea of just how pervasive it is. And honestly, I don’t mind the smut at all as long as it’s well-written and justified, but here it was just s3x for s3x’s sake—not to mention that Wolfe lacks a bit of imagination; it’s always the same moves, the same words, aside from two or three geographical variations—nothing transcendent. If the first three steamy scenes get you a little worked up, it quickly dies down afterward until you’re left indifferent (at least, that’s how it was for me). 

I found the story’s pacing very uneven, with very predictable plot twists. 

I’m a bit disappointed with this read—it won’t be memorable.
